Find out more about The Old Blokes
In 2023, the Old Blokes Driving for a Cancer Cure raised a record-breaking $102k for Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF).  This year, they’re aiming to smash their previous target and raise more vital funds for cancer research.

On April 30, the Old Blokes will kick off a seven-day road trip across NSW and VIC in their classic cars. Along the way, they'll stop in several towns to raise awareness about the crucial work of the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) and encourage support for their fundraising efforts. Join them on this exciting journey!

A Message from Mario

Dear Friends and Family,

Thanks to you all, "Old Blokes Driving for a Cancer Cure" was such a huge success in 2023, raising over $100,000 for Cancer Research - that we have decided to do it again.

Cancer has touched all of our lives in some way, whether through the loss of a loved one, a friend, or a colleague. Personally, the loss of my father, father-in-law, work colleagues, and close friends to this devastating disease has inspired me to take action.

I dream of a world free from cancer, and I'm determined to help make that a reality. To contribute to this cause, I've joined forces with fellow car enthusiasts – Harry Moustakas, Nick Harris, Michael Skyllas, John Assarapin, and Vince Thompson, aka "The Old Blokes" – to raise funds for Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF).

ACRF provides scientists with cutting-edge technology and equipment to advance research in preventing, detecting, and treating all forms of cancer. We are proud to support this extraordinary organisation, which is driving meaningful progress in the fight against cancer across Australia.

As part of our efforts, we'll be embarking on a six-day road trip starting April 30, driving our classic cars to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. This journey will be fully self-funded, and we invite anyone interested in joining us on this adventure to contact me at 0416 207 723.

Additionally, we'll be hosting a charity function on October 17 at Doltone House, Sylvania Waters, to further support this cause. More details about this exciting event will be shared soon!

We kindly ask for your support. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to finding a cure for cancer. Donations made through this platform are secure and go directly to Australian Cancer Research Foundation.
Together, we can make a real difference in the fight against cancer. Thank you for your generosity and support!

Warm regards,

Mario Nearchou

Why support ACRF?

They fund world-class research into all types of cancer

Since 1984, ACRF have provided over $184 million of funding to innovative cancer research projects that aim to discover new and improved ways to prevent, detect and treat all types of cancer.

ACRF provides large grants that make a real impact

Annually ACRF awards grants of between $1 million and $10 million to visionary cancer research projects. They back bold ideas that explore new ways of approaching the challenges attached to treating this complex disease.

Here are some past projects ACRF supporters have helped fund:

Cervical Cancer Vaccine

ACRF supporters contributed to the seed funding for Professor Ian Frazer’s development of a cervical cancer vaccine. Thanks to a national immunisation program, Australia is set to be the first country to effectively eliminate the disease.

Personalised Cancer Treatment

Donations from ACRF supporters enabled an ambitious project that aims to provide each cancer patient a personalized treatment plan within 36 hours from diagnosis.

Zero Childhood Cancer

Thanks to the generosity of their supporters, ACRF became one of the founding partners of an initiative to tackle the most difficult cases of infant, childhood and adolescent cancer in Australia. Clinical trials are currently underway nationally and results are looking positive.
