Fit40 in Feb

Day 23 FIT40 FEB

Aah…hello 3 day weekend. Dropped both the boys off at Daycare and we had the day to ourselves. A perfect day to spend outdoors doing datey things - Ben and I got to spend the day exploring around the city seeing some art 🖼️🌞

A relaxing brunch and a quick shop around Chadstone before Daycare pick up - we sure made the most of the day…a very rare and productive day indeed 😁

Ah if only I could count my walking today towards my 40mins of moving 😆 but I am so close to the end and will need to keep pushing through.

Day 21 FIT40 FEB

WFH today - a chance to start and finish early 🙏🏼

Body is not feeling so well today so a Yin session was called for - a great way to re-align and do a deep stretch before bed. Another hot night so both of the boys are in our bed again (poor Ben has to sleep on the porta bed).

Back on-site tomorrow so hoping for a peaceful night sleep 😴

Day 20 FIT40 FEB

A burst of energy with the kids early to bed and with just over a week left, I wanted to kick it up a notch and managed to do 12km in 40mins - my longest ride so far.

I only have $20 left to make my target 🙏🏼

Day 19 FIT40 FEB

Hello Monday…a busy day awaited me and something to celebrate 🎉

A short meal to check out a new Chinese take away joint nearby and a trip to the park with the kiddos - felt like a Friday 😁

One thing I love and appreciate about us as parents is that we do expose our kids to various activities and still manage to keep it together when the hanger sets in 👦🏻😭😫😍

A fast walk around the park and Yin yoga before bed 🧘‍♀️😴

Day 18 FIT40 FEB

Ah that Sunday feeling…a productive day yesterday and feeling I can take a bit of a load off today ☺️

I was wrong; almost 4hrs later and I had done a deep clean of the bathroom and the inside and outside of the car 😆 Sometimes there’s that impulse to do something regardless of how tired or hot it is - a sudden burst of energy !

A nice walk to the new park in Oakleigh was a lovely way to end the weekend and get my 40mins in.

Day 17 FIT40 FEB

Work up feeling so fresh today! An extra 3 hours sleep makes all the difference 🙌🏼

After last night, I started the day doing an aerobics class - I need to change it up a bit and thought it would be fun to do it in the lounge with B1 joining in if he wanted 😆👦🏻 It’s good to sweat 😅

The one thing I have come to realise by doing this challenge is how much little time I have for myself and allow for myself…but that goes for all parents with kids so close in age. I have learnt to accept it and was quite happy going along not taking that time for myself. But I know now how important it is for me to create and value that time and I have already set my next challenge and one that I have been procrastinating over many years.

Today we ended the day with a trip to the pool and down memory lane for Ben. He grew up going to Monash pool with his siblings and he came back after over 35yrs to the same pool where his kids might be learning to swim themselves.

Indeed a Saturday well spent 😍

Day 16 FIT40 FEB

FriYAY and what a week…and after a loaded dinner - pesto prawn pasta and Halo halo (sugar loaded filipino dessert) the 4 of us all cuddled in bed with the aircon on and feel asleep to space music 😴

Awaken at 1:30am realising I had not done and will miss a day of exercise 😝 The thought of heading downstairs to do some Yin entered my mind, but that would not have been support for my body.

Tomorrow I know I will have to make up for tonight…

Day 15 FIT40 FEB

Thurs can be just as manic as Mon, but mostly only on Daycare drop off and pick up. Trying to carry 2 wiggling babies both over 13kg is a work out 💪🏼

But bedtime is usually a little easier with both of them having a long day at daycare = early to bed and early work out for me 🧘‍♀️🚴🙌🏼

Day 14 FIT40 FEB

Half way through the challenge 🥳 Making it to the halfway mark is a great feeling - glad I have been able to produce the result and progress around the challenge.

My next challenge is now to keep the donation coming, so please if you haven’t donated yet, follow the link below and donate away 🙏🏼

Day 13 FIT40 FEB

I am starting to feel my flexibility coming back after 2 weeks (I started a few days early before the challenge to prepare myself for the routine).

It’s a great feeling to be able to give yourself some time to see and feel how my body moves.

Yin Yoga is definitely my favourite of all yoga 🧘‍♀️

Day 12 FIT40 FEB

Just another manic Monday…I did wish it was Sunday…

I do find it harder to get the time and drive to do anything active after an early start and long commute to work and daycare duties.

So tonight I did the usual reflection of why I am doing this challenge and a Yin Yoga was exactly what I needed to end the day and have a restful sleep.

Day 11 FIT40 FEB

After a busy last 2 days I had to pick myself up and push through the echo of excuses…

A couple of podcasts later and have done over 10km on the bike 🚴🙌🏼

Slow and steady and allowing time to feel how my body is feeling and how quite those echo of excuses have become.

Day 10 FIT40 FEB

Double digit ✅ 💥😁 mustering up all the energy that I had to make today a great day for Ben’s Bday.

Ah, but I didn’t factor the 40mins me time, so here I am after 10:30pm trying to write blogs and get some stretching in…

Tomorrow is another day…

Day 9 FIT40 FEB

Hello Friday -  I could snooze a few more times today, but I had a wiggly 14month needing to be feed. On the upside, I do need to start early, so he’s the wake up call I needed.

Why is it that when you decide to do something outside your usual routine ie. exercise, our body starts to feel pain in places we haven’t before.

I was all ready to use the bike and I could not push pass the pain. Another night of yin and I woke up on my side - I had falling into a deep sleep during one of my stretch 😴😝

Day 9 FIT40 FEB

Ah, officially past the 1 wk mark - woot! Feels good to keep consistent with this challenge.

Not feeling so great in the tummy today - note to self; stay away from pre-packed salad at work. A late stretch to end the day was a struggle after giving the boys dinner, shower and bed by myself. But I go to bed feeling lighter knowing I have made some effort towards this.

Day 8 FIT40 FEB

I found myself hitting the shops for half of the day today (Ben’s bday and Vday coming up)  and so great that B2 slept for most of it - yes! A successful shopping day indeed…a little bargain here and there hehe…

As I lay in bed trying to put B2 to sleep my brain was suggesting maybe  I could use my several hours of walking as  my 40mins  (thinking out loud) then saying out loud to Ben - only to be met with; “Retail exercise doesn’t count” 😆

So does! but not in this case…Ah  my voice of reason 🙏🏼

Day 7 FIT40 FEB

First week done ✅ Feels great to achieve my first milestone and only $60 left to go to reach my target!

This challenge is a win win opportunity to show me how I manage my time, and  how to better manage it while supporting a very worthy cause.

Spending over 40mins taking B1 for  a walk to gather some herbs and whatever else we could find  along our walk  was a lovely way to end the day.

Day 6 FIT 40 FEB

Ah, hello Monday…after a long and busy day, it was only understandable that my brain would go to default mode. Putting the boys to sleep I get the time to pause and reflect.  It  was very clear how much my brain was not wanting my body to honour my 40mins tonight  - self awareness and responsibility = get your ass up and just do it!

A 40mins Yin yoga is exactly what my mind and body needed …

Day 5 FIT40 FEB

Sunday fun day - seeing the quirky ways the boys interact with each other and fun cause I got to organise the pantry - yup, that’s my version of fun now 😆

We try to keep it low key on Sundays, a day well spent as a family and a delicious home cooked meal - lamb Rogan Josh, Saffron rice and Pappadums 😋😋

And a family walk to get my 40mins of fitness in.

Feeling supported in so many levels and so thankful for those who has donated. I am so close to my target and it’s only day 5!

Day 4 FIT40 FEB

Saturday is pancake day at our house (well most of the time). It’s a cold and rainy morning and feeling the cold today 🥶

I was hoping for an outdoor activity today, but might have to settle for a trip to DFO 🙌🏼 4hrs later and we walked away feeling pretty good with our purchases - if only this counts as part of my 40mins 😆

Started a little later tonight, but 40mins is calling…So podcast on and 41mins later, I added 1km to yesterday’s time.

Feeling pretty good about having this time to myself. I feel a sense of achievement at the end of the day.

Day 3 FIT40 FEB

Ah…Friday is  an early start WFH and means depending on how much sleep I get that night,  I know I have the luxury of working in my PJ 🤭 which is what exactly happened today.😬

Didn’t get much sleep last night between B2’s  2 diaper explosion between 2am-4am and transitioning B1  back to sleep on his own bed didn’t leave much room for a good night sleep…Nevertheless, it’s Friday - last day of the week…

B2 is in bed and I can start my 40mins…

Headphones on and some podcast and I begun cycling 🚴‍♀️ and before I knew it, Ben was coming into the garage to do his workout and I had done 8km in 41mins - not bad for using the bike for the 1st time lol

I know it’s only Day 3, but I can say I am enjoying the process of taking this time to prioritise time for myself - it requires planning and some self regulation, but worth the 40mins. Big thanks to Ben for being here, there and everywhere 🙌🏼

Day 2 FIT40 FEB

Day 2 is work on-site day and always a challenge to drop both boys off to daycare at the same time.  Cayden my eldest currently also wants to be carried all the way to the door - so I make my way through the car park hoping my arms can sustain both their weight 💪🏼👶🏻👶🏻

I do make the most of the 45mins drive  to work and often listen to podcasts - does exercising my brain counts? 📚 🧠 😆

Getting to work was a little busier than usual and today was a bit unique as 2 cows decided to just hang out on the side of the road (their usually inside a fence)  -  I didn’t realise how big cows are until I drove pass them so closely (traffic patrol was around, but the cows didn’t seem phase). And by the way, they were there when I drove back home that afternoon as well.  I had to pull over and take a pic - I thought it was hilarious!

I do want to say I work with a great bunch of people and when I reminded them of this challenge they were all very positive and have  donated generously.  Big thank you to the Eastwood’s for being team awesome! 😍

I had a full day and after picking up the kids, giving them dinner (was all sorted  before I got home - go Ben 🙌🏼) , showering  and trying to get them to bed by 8:00pm was a no go for Cayden - he waited for his Dad to come back from basketball and still wanted to learn about his planets…we do love that he loves to learn and we think it’s pretty impressive he knows all the planets at 2.5yrs but time for sleep buddy 😴

8:30pm I was able to fit in a Yin Yoga session for 47min before a symphony of cries started  upstairs - ah, at least they were very considerate with their timing…

Tomorrow is another day to learn something new ….

I’m moving for brilliant cancer research this February. Will you support me?

I’m taking part in ACRF’s new fundraising challenge Fit40 in Feb by moving for 40 minutes a day in February.

Each minute I move and each dollar I raise will go to backing brilliant research to advance to a world without cancer.

You can help me by donating today. Thanks for supporting brilliant cancer research.
